History

2006:

  • Nina develops the framework for the programme
  • Nina meets Andy Winter, a trustee for a Glimmer of Hope

2007:

  • Funding of £36,500 is secured from a Glimmer of Hope to run projects for one year
  • A further £10,000 is secured from Awards for All
  • The Board of Trustees is formed

    2008:

    • The first projects begin at The Crew Club in Whitehawk and the Bridge in Moulsecoomb
    • We get our first five volunteers
    • Nina starts at The School for Social Entrepreneurs
    • Continuation funding of £71,000 is secured for two more years from a Glimmer of Hope

    2009:

    • Nina graduates from the School for Social Entrepreneurs
    • Stage 1 funding of £20,000 is awarded by SEIF (Social Enterprise Investment Fund) from the Department of Health to research viability of social enterprise arm of The Young Parents Project
    • Level 1 Award of £3500 from UnLtd received to support the social enterprise
    • Annual award of £5000 secured with Brighton & Hove Council
    • A County Award of £7000 is secured from Henry Smith Charity
    • An Award of £300 is secured from East Brighton Trust
    • The Young Parents Project moves into The WestWerks

    2010:

    • UnLtd Advantage are funded by SEIF to ensure The Young Parents Project is investment ready prior to Stage 2 Application
    • Stage 2 Award of £200,000 is secured from SEIF to start up social enterprise
    • Jade Banks becomes the first participant to become an employee of The Young Parents Project
